Creative Sound Blaster 16 PCI CT4740: model identification

The blue Creative sound card in these photos is marked MODEL: CT4740. The original Collier article called it a “Sound Blaster PCI 128 4-Channel,” but that description needs correcting.

What this card is

Creative's official Sound Blaster model list identifies CT4740 as Sound Blaster 16 PCI. The model marking visible in the close-up is a stronger identifier than the older article's product title.

The recovered photographs show the board, its colored rear audio connectors, and the internal TAD, CD IN, and AUX headers. They preserve the actual card from the collection without substituting a photo of a similar Creative model.

Driver references

Creative's archived download listings include packages that name CT4740 among their supported models. Read the particular release's supported operating systems and installation requirements; the Sound Blaster family name alone is not enough.

The old Collier download record contained multiple Creative archives, including one whose filename names CT4810. Those files were recovered, but their association with this article is not proof that every package applies to CT4740.

The earlier broad recommendation to use a particular Windows version has been removed. This collection entry documents the card and its provenance; it does not claim a newly tested driver installation, four-speaker capability, or modern operating-system support.
