Diamond Stealth 3D 4000: photos and an installation note

The Diamond Stealth 3D 4000 is part of the Collier Computers retro-hardware collection. The recovered gallery was labeled “Stealth 3D 4000 AGP 4MB” and includes views of the card, its connector, and its identifying sticker.

The most useful part of the original article is a real installation observation, rather than a general claim about performance.

The original installation experience

In the January 2024 article, I recorded that I had installed this card and tried the files linked on the page. The installation CD was the only one that worked in that test.

That note describes one historical setup. The article did not record enough detail about its operating system, hardware revision, or failure symptoms to turn it into a universal driver recommendation.

What was recovered

The original installation-CD image, stealth3d.iso, has been preserved with a checksum. The old download list also mixed S3 ViRGE drivers, a Stealth 3D 2000 Pro package, and BIOS material. Those filenames describe different targets and are not interchangeable simply because they appeared under the same article.

The archives remain preserved for identification and testing. This page does not present the old driver list as a verified installation path, and no installer or BIOS program was executed during recovery.

Identifying the card

Use the photographs and physical labels when comparing this card with a driver package or another Stealth model. The original generic claims about broad PC compatibility and graphics performance have been removed because this entry contains no benchmark results to support them.
